President Tinubu appoints a new Director-General of the Federal Budget Office.
President Bola Tinubu has authorized the nomination of Mr. Tanimu Yakubu as Director-General of the Federation’s Budget Office, following the expiration of Mr. Ben Akabueze’s tenure.
Mr. Yabuku is an accomplished economist who served as a former President’s Chief Economic Adviser from 2007 to 2010, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria from 2003 to 2007, and Katsina State’s Commissioner of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning from 1999 to 2003.
The new Director-General of the Federation’s Budget Office holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the same institution.
President Tinubu respects the departed Director-General, Mr. Akabueze, for his service and wishes him success in his future endeavors.
The President expects the next Director-General of this critical institution to improve the delivery of efficient and quality budget functions, with the goal of promoting fiscal sustainability, transparency, and accountability in public finance management for national development.
