The Special Offences Court in Ikeja has sentenced two men, Ugwu Pascal Chijioke and Ibrahim Sadiq Adekunle, to 46 years in prison for impersonating Economic and Financial Crimes Commission operatives.
The EFCC released the information in a statement on Sunday. The statement stated, “Messrs Chijioke and Adekunle were re-arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on an amended five-count charge bordering on impersonation, effort to gain property, possession of documents containing false pretense, and unlawfully wearing the EFCC uniform. Justice Abike-Fadipe delivered judgment and sentenced the defendants to seven years on counts one through three, one year on count four, and eight months on count five. “The sentences will run concurrently.”
According to the anti-graft agency, the prisoners were apprehended sometime in May 2021, following credible intelligence acquired by the commission, while they were conducting an illegal operation at the New Horizon Estate in Lekki, Lagos.
