A car accident in Imawa town on the Zaria-Kano route in Kano State’s Kura Local Government Area killed at least 14 people.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the FRSC sector commander in the state, confirmed the accident to journalists in Kano on Friday.

He said the accident occurred when a truck with registration number MKA 537 XN lost control and collided with pedestrians who had just concluded Friday prayers and killed 14 of them.

Mr Abdullahi stated, “We received a distress call at approximately 01:50 p.m. on June 28, 2024, and promptly dispatched our personnel and vehicle to the scene of the accident.”

“To prevent such preventable tragedies, the FRSC is committed to road safety and urges all road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.”

The sector commander expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and informed the public that investigations were underway to determine the actual circumstances of the disaster. (NAN)
