11,957 out-of-school youngsters were enrolled by my administration: Sanwo-Olu

Through its Project Zero Program, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu claims that his administration assisted 11,957 out-of-school youngsters in returning to their education.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu announced this during the Children’s Day celebration procession and rally at Police College, Ikeja, on behalf of his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

He recounted some of the measures taken to guarantee that kids attended school, mentioning the addition of nine new schools in populated and isolated locations. These new schools currently had 4,588 students, 2,310 of whom were girls and 2,278 of whom were males.

The governor announced that fences, CCTV cameras, and other safety measures have been installed in public schools, and that the administration is closely collaborating with security authorities to ensure the safety of kids.

Since May 2023, he added, “we have hired over 2,000 new teachers for our older students in subjects like STEM, History, Yoruba, French, and Geography.”

According to Mr. Sanwo-Olu, the new Digital Situation Room was also built to keep an eye on student progress and guarantee efficient operations.

The governor urged kids to keep having big dreams, setting high standards for themselves, and using their imaginations, promising that his government would never give up on the idea that “No Child Is Left Behind.”

He emphasized that the state government was totally dedicated to giving the kids the conditions, know-how, chances, and safety they needed to realize their potential.

The governor gave an explanation of how the annual event reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the youth by preparing them for the challenges of the future in a world that is changing and becoming more competitive.

He emphasized that everyone was urged to speak up, take action, and always maintain safety, happiness, and well-being by the 2024 topic, “Advocate for Children: Policies & Actions that Protect and Support Children’s Well-Being.”

The youngsters were earlier urged to maintain excellence in their academic and extracurricular activities by Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, who described them as the future of the state and the country.

Mr Alli-Balogun applauded the Sanwo-Olu-led administration for its commitment to the education sector and acknowledged the role of teachers in mentoring the children.
